MYRTLE BEACH — The members-only shopping business is about to become a little more competitive along the Grand Strand.
BJ's Wholesale Club plans to build a new store off U.S. Highway 501 at Las Palmas and Rodeo drives west of Carolina Bays Parkway, according to plans submitted to state environmental regulators.
Lloyd Lords, vice president of construction and facilities at BJ's, has applied for a stormwater permit to build a 103,005-square-foot building and fuel station on 12.11 acres. No wetlands are included in the site, according to the application.
The site will include 504 parking spaces. The property is owned by TDC 501 Group LLC of Lawrenceville, Ga., according to Horry County land records.
A company representative did not immediately respond for comment on the projected construction and opening timeframes for the new store.
